Shop less, invent more! Anyone can make a professionally shot film! This workshop will focus on budget, DIY and all-around frugal ways to make films and build your own equipment.

WINTER BIKING 101

Shop less, bike more! Le Petit Velo Rouge will be hosting a workshop on winter biking, focusing on how to prepare your bike, what to wear, and riding techniques to be able to safely ride your bike all winter! No experience necessary!

FEBRUARY 6TH OUTDOOR ICE SKATING

Shop less, skate more! Join us for an afternoon at Parc LaFontaine skating with new and old friends. We will provide *FREE* skate rentals to the first 20 folks who sign up. There will be hot chocolate to warm up!

DRINK AND DRAW: An evening of DIY art

Shop less, create more! Join us for an evening of drinks and arts & crafts in the Hive Cafe. Whether learning how to make DIY prints with Queer Print Club, creating new songs with a local choir or repurposing old materials to create crafts, the evening won’t disappoint!

Shop less, party safer!  New to the scene or a certified Montreal party vet, this event is for you! We’ll start with a training on harm reduction and Naloxone administration and then craft personalized party kits filled with safe(r) partying tools.

DIY YOGA & MEDITATION

Shop less, stretch more! We all need to take a moment during our busy lives to chill out and breathe. Come join Kat Graham for a free yoga and meditation workshop at the Loyola Hive café from 2-4. Never done yoga before? This is your chance to try in a fun, judgment free space where you can learn the basics, best part: it's FREE! Bring a mat, a water bottle and a friend!

Shop less, moisturize more! This workshop is an introduction to DIY Cosmetics with Radical Home Economics. Come use common household ingredients that can serve a multitude of cosmetic purposes and be guided into making three products.

SELF-DEFENSE 101

Come to this FREE self-defence class for women, femmes and non-binary people. You will learn the basics of self-defence so that if you find yourself in a scary situation, you have the skills to protect yourself. This will be a trans inclusive space; nobody's gender will be policed to gain access to the workshop.

 
MARCH 13TH DUMPSTER DIVING THEORY

Shop less, dumpster more! Interested in dumpster diving and reducing food waste? Join us for a hands on, informative workshop. Let’s talk about food system alternatives, your neighbourhood dumpsters, and how to make HUGE POTS OF SOUP.
DUMPSTER DIVING PRACTICE

Shop less, dumpster more! Excursions to Plateau dumpsters to find FREE, perfectly edible food that is going to waste. Meet us at Les Echelles for a dumpster fun run. Meet after for a community dinner where we will cook what we find!
MARCH 20TH

DIY TENANTS TOOLKIT |
2 PM || Hall Building, 7th Floor Lounge


HOJO will be giving a workshop that will teach you the skills needed to be the best tenant you can be. This includes how to empower your neighborhood, how to keep warm in the winter and how to know your tenant’s rights so that you can be your own housing expert. Through a fun and interactive workshop, you will walk out with a Tenant’s toolkit that will help you get the most out of your rent!

CANNING + PRESERVING 101
5 PM || Multi-Faith & Spirituality Centre (2090 Mackay)


Shop less, ferment more! Season jars members will help us make a batch of Sauerkraut, share their knowledge about fermentation, the science behind this traditional method of food preservation and reflect on how our food choices can promote anti-consumerism and resilience.

Shop less, mend more! A drop-in workshop to mend or alter clothing with the Common Thread / le Fil Commun. This workshop will be set up next to the clothing swap in case you need to fix or alter any treasure you find!
